African Rural University (ARU), founded in 2011 in Kagadi, Uganda, is the first all-women’s university in Africa, dedicated to empowering women as leaders in rural transformation. ARU combines academic excellence with experiential learning and traditional wisdom, offering an interdisciplinary curriculum focused on sustainable development in rural areas. The university trains women to become "Epicenter Managers," capable of driving positive change in agriculture, health, education, and environmental sustainability within their communities. Affiliated with the Uganda Rural Development and Training Programme (URDT), ARU is committed to holistic rural development, making a significant impact on Uganda's rural communities and serving as a model for women-centered education across Africa.
